Introduction

Using the Family Page you can move from generation to generation in either direction, displaying each time all spouses and children of a given individual. At the top of the Family Page you see the box of the current individual. Below the individual are boxes of all his or her spouses and their offspring.

Each person's box contains his/her sex, names and when and where he/she was born and died.

Below each spouse box, there is a Marriage/Partnership box, with marriage date and place.

All boxes can also contain facts and events of the corresponding individual or couple. To view them, click Show Events. To view notes for the given person or family, click Show Notes.

All grey areas are either text boxes , where you can write, or drop-down lists , where you can choose a value.

Note that the Family Page is gender-neutral. The current individual can be of either sex, and a spouse does not have to be of the opposite sex.

How to merge two records of the same individuals into one

Sometimes, you may discover that you have entered the same person twice. It can happen for many reasons. For example, you find out that Richard Atkins whom you have entered yesterday, is actually the same Richard Montgomery Atkins you had for a long time. Then you need to merge those individuals.

To do so, open a Family Page with one of those two persons (this will be the "primary" individual), and in the Actions... drop-down menu, select Merge This Person.

This will save the current page and open the Select the Duplicate Individual index page. Select and click a name. FamiliaOnline will display Merge Individuals page, showing both the individuals side by side:

Use bullets in the Select columns to choose which set of parents, birth and death dates/places and so on will inherit the merged individual. In the above figure, the duplicate individual has almost no data, therefore you would probably select all data from the primary one.

When you click Submit, the child will be moved from the old family to the new one.
